Avoid Expensive Watch Repairs With Proper Maintenance

Normal wear and tear from daily use of your mechanical watch is to be expected.

While your watch may be designed to withstand normal wear, you can extend their life by taking these steps.

Bring your watch to a trusted jeweler every 3 years or so for inspection.

  1. Bring your watch to a trusted jeweler every 3 years or so for inspection. Only an expert with proper tools and experience can determine its condition.
  2. Store your watch properly, in a temperate environment to prevent expansion and contraction of internal parts.
  3. Proper Winding: wind your watch when it is OFF your wrist to protect the crown and prevent over winding. Consider an automatic watch winder.
  4. Don't start the chronograph underwater to protect the seal.
  5. To help keep proper timing, avoid laying your watch on devices with magnetic fields on devices such as radios, speakers, cell phones and tablets.
